Carici arctisibiricae–Hylocomietea alaskani – a new class of zonal tundra vegetation

چکیده
A new class, Carici arctisibiricae–Hylocomietea alaskani class nov. is described for vegetation of the tundra zone on a circumpolar scale. This higher unit in system Braun-Blanquet floristic (= floristic-sociological) classification unites zonal intermediate habitats with respect to substrate moisture, pH and texture, snow cover thickness duration, depth seasonal frozen ground thawing, growing season length interfluves (upland surfaces) within (CAVM subzones B, C, D, E = arctic, typical southern Russian subdivision). Communities are distributed plains north tree line two continents (Eurasia North America), as well archipelagos (Spitsbergen, Novaya Zemlya, New Siberian Islands, Canadian Arctic Archipelago) large small islands (Kolguev, Dolgy, Vaygach, Bely, Bolshoy Begichev, Ayon, Wrangel, Greenland) Ocean. The comprises 3 orders 6 alliances. diagnoses rank units given. Difficulties describing classifying communities due specificity their species composition horizontal vertical structure discussed. criteria distinguishing from known ones Europe Asia mountains, which being placed until now, presented.

Spatial heterogeneity of tundra vegetation response to recent temperature changes
The spatial heterogeneity of recent decadal dynamics in vegetation greenness and biomass in response to changes in summer warmth index (SWI) was investigated along spatial gradients on the Arctic Slope of Alaska. Image spatial analysis was used to examine the spatial pattern of greenness dynamics from 1991 to 2000 as indicated by variations of the maximum normalized difference vegetation index ...

In this study, seasonal field measurements of the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), using a field spectroradiometer, and leaf area index (LAI), using a LI-COR LAI-2000 Plant Canopy Analyzer, were compared with above-ground phytomass data to investigate relationships between vegetation properties and spectral indices for four distinct tundra vegetation types at Ivotuk, Alaska (68.49...
متن کاملA New Class of Zero-Inflated Logarithmic Series Distribution
Through this paper we suggest an alternative form of the modified zero-inflated logarithmic series distribution of Kumar and Riyaz (Statistica, 2013) and study some of its important aspects. The method of maximum likelihood is employed for estimating the parameters of the distribution and certain test procedures are considered for testing the significance of the additional parameter of the model. ...
